Hello dear friends! I had been looking forward to painting with you in March, but unfortunately border restrictions are keeping me from traveling from Canada, to you in Florida. With this in mind, Wanda, Beverly and I came up with a new plan. I have converted my workshop into two programs so you can learn, socialize, and share ideas from the comfort of your home. Technology is amazing, and I enthusiastically embrace the opportunity to offer a virtual workshop and a demonstration!
Linda Kemp
www.lindakemp.com March 17, 2021 The Virtual Demonstration and Chat 1 pm to 3 pm Landscapes in Layers - Watercolour With Linda Kemp All Levels Welcome Fee: $39 payable to Wanda Boyd Please use the registration form to mail in payment. or Click to pay via PayPal |
How do I attend a virtual demonstration?
I will present the program by Zoom so you can take part from your home computer, tablet or phone. You will receive the meeting link from your host organization a few days before the event with instructions for connecting. You do not need a Zoom account, but it is best to download the Zoom app before the event. Here is a link for the Zoom Download Center. https://zoom.us/download About ten minutes before our start time, click on the link you have received and you will be taken directly to the meeting. There will be a monitor who will let you into the event and show you how to use the Zoom platform. The monitor will keep track of question and help you with any video and audio controls/troubles. If you would like to speak to me, you can use the microphone on your computer and also through the Chat feature on Zoom. You will also be able to chat privately to your friends through the Zoom platform. It is easy and we will show you how! |
What happens during the demonstration and chat?
Every program is unique! I prepare my demonstrations ahead of time, using professional quality recording equipment and editing tools. Then the videos are compressed so they will look their best on Zoom. By pre-recording the demonstration, I take the risk out of live demos to offer great lighting, focus, sound and output. You will have a better-than-front-row seat!
In addition to the demonstration, Linda will present teaching visuals, examples, product explanations etc. through a Keynote presentation. Questions will be welcome and answered live. Following the demo, we will have some time to visit!

Representational Reference Picture; Workshop Paintings Will Differ
Workshop Description:
Discover how to start, build and complete watercolor florals as you learn the essential skills of negative painting. In this two day Zoom workshop you will discover how to paint delicate blossoms and foliage. All it takes is a simple shift in the way you see! Linda will demonstrate and lead you step-by-step through the key exercises and basic tactics of working with this unconventional, inspiring approach. Topics covered in this program include, interpreting your subject matter, negative painting strategies, simplified design, basic color concepts, and “seeing” for painting. You will learn how to reduce florals into simplified shapes, create purposeful underpaintings and practice the glazing techniques used for layering negative shapes. On the first day, we develop control by working on dry paper, in readiness for the thrill of building wet into wet layers on the second day. |
Our time together will include video demonstration, hands-on painting time and live discussion about how to apply negative painting concepts to your favorite subjects and options for creative painting rescue.
Once you learn the basics you will see and paint the world in an exciting and different way!
Think positive with negative painting!
This program is suitable for all levels, although some painting experience is recommended. Linda will prepare handouts for the class that can be downloaded after registration is complete.

By carving and making stamps with your own designs, and using stencils as well, you can create papers that meet your needs. Oftentimes, it’s a surprise to you as well! |

After making collage papers, we will build design studies with a layering process. This is a fun way to learn design, the capabilities of your papers and create a painting in the process! It’s always exciting to watch the students put together these little paintings with their own original collage. These studies are a prelude to utilizing your collage in an original painting. The final day, the students are free to create their own paintings, whether it be incorporating collage into their work or building a painting with collage and enhancing it with paint. Numerous demos and individual assistance will be ongoing. It is my hope to introduce you to another medium to factor into your work!
