Lionel Sanchez
Workshop description:

Join renowned watercolor artist Lionel Sanchez for an exciting two-day workshop exploring the expressive and dynamic world of pen and wash watercolor. This technique combines the precision of ink with the fluidity of watercolor, creating paintings that are rich in texture, depth, and spontaneity.

Lionel Sanchez is a versatile artist proficient in various mediums, including watercolor, graphite, acrylic, and pen & ink. His primary focus is on watercolor, often incorporating pen and ink to enhance his compositions. His subject matter spans rural and urban landscapes, architecture, boats, and various outdoor scenes. Lionel frequently employs abstract forms during his sketching process and prefers painting en plein air, using photography and his imagination as studio references.

In this workshop, through demonstrations, guided exercises, and personalized instruction, Lionel will teach you how to:
  • Use pen work to define shapes, add contrast, and create movement
  • Master watercolor washes to enhance light, shadow, and atmosphere
  • Work from reference photos for inspiration rather than replication
  • Develop your own unique artistic style with confidence
This workshop is perfect for both beginners and experienced artists looking to add a bold and expressive approach to their watercolor practice.

Students should bring a selection of micron pens, sizes 01 to 08, or extra fine line Sharpee markers for the pen work.
These are reference images only.  The images we paint in class may be different.
