Discover the power of truly seeing and translating what you observe onto paper in this immersive two-day drawing workshop with Michael Sastre. Whether you’re picking up a pencil for the first time or looking to strengthen your foundational skills, this hands-on experience is designed to sharpen your eye and build confidence in your drawing.
Over two concentrated days, you’ll work continuously from observation, exploring essential concepts such as shape, proportion, value, light, shadow, and perspective. Michael will guide you step-by-step through demonstrations and guided practice, offering individualized feedback to help you understand not just what to draw, but how to see like an artist.
This is not a copy-along class, but a skill-building studio experience where you’ll draw, assess, adjust, and draw again—developing a deeper visual awareness that will strengthen all of your future artwork, no matter the medium.
Perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike who want to refine their seeing, strengthen their structure, and gain greater confidence in drawing from life.

Whether you’re picking up a pencil for the first time or want to sharpen your observational skills, this immersive two-day workshop will transform how you see and draw.

What this workshop is for you if:
• You want to build confidence and clarity in your drawing.
• You want a structured but supportive environment to practice every minute.
• You’re ready to learn how artists actually look at objects, light, shadow, and space.

What this workshop isn’t:
• A passive lecture — this is hands-on work.
• A copy-this-picture class — we teach how to think visually, not just trace.

In this two-day experience, you will:
• Practice fundamental drawing skills — shapes, values, line quality, and edges.
• Learn to measure and scale objects accurately on the page.
• Explore shading, light, and perspective in ways that make forms believable.
• Build confident compositions with thoughtful use of space and balance.
• Get personalized feedback from Michael with demos and guided exercises.

You’ll leave with multiple finished studies and a deeper visual awareness that you can apply to any subject you choose.

Supply List:  Students will need to bring a pad of drawing paper, at least 14" X 17", a support board as large as the pad (can be as low-tech as a piece of foam board or as high tech as a drawing board with clips and a rubber band), a set of drawing pencils, a kneaded eraser, and a pencil sharpener.
