Our Story

Village Art Workshops began with a simple idea: bring exceptional teaching artists to Central Florida—and create a welcoming place for people to learn, grow, and make art together.

In 2019, longtime director Beverly “Bev” Hennessy made the thoughtful decision to step back from leading the program to spend more time with her husband Bob, her dog Daisy, and (of course) a home filled with painting supplies. Bev’s vision and dedication helped build Village Art Workshops into the vibrant, respected program it is today.

From the moment Wanda Boyd attended her first workshop, she recognized something special. Bev’s passion for bringing nationally known artists to the community was one of the reasons Wanda ultimately chose to move to The Villages—and it didn’t take long for the two to become kindred spirits.

When Bev decided it was time to entrust her “baby” to someone new, Wanda was honored to step in and continue building on the strong foundation Bev created. While Bev is no longer the lead coordinator, she remains an important part of the program and a trusted source of encouragement and inspiration.

Wanda moved to The Villages in 2015 and quickly immersed herself in the local art community. With a background in sales, marketing, and community leadership, she brings both business experience and a deep love of art education to Village Art Workshops.

Our mission is simple: to bring exceptional teaching artists together with a welcoming creative community—offering high-quality workshops that inspire growth, connection, and lifelong learning.
