Workshop Description:

Get ready to loosen up and let watercolor flow in this dynamic workshop with award-winning artist Linda Wokoun! Designed for artists of all levels, this workshop explores the magic of wet-into-wet painting—a technique that brings freshness and spontaneity to your work—combined with the structure and clarity of negative painting.

Linda will guide you through creating vibrant, expressive underpaintings that evolve into elegant, representational compositions using birds or florals as reference. You’ll discover how to build luminous layers, carve out shapes, and create depth through contrast, all while embracing the unpredictable beauty of watercolor. Through step-by-step demos, guided exercises, and plenty of personal feedback, Linda helps you develop confidence and creative control, all in a warm, supportive environment.

Whether you’re new to these techniques or looking to deepen your practice, this workshop will leave you inspired and equipped with new tools to take your painting to the next level.

Linda's Bio:

Linda Wokoun is a talented watercolor artist and educator based in Southwest Florida, originally hailing from Chicago. She transitioned from the business world to pursue her lifelong passion for painting and now works full-time as a water-media artist. Linda's style is characterized by bold wet-into-wet techniques and dynamic negative painting, creating fluid, energetic compositions that blend abstraction with representational forms. She skillfully utilizes the inherent fluidity of watercolor to capture movement and texture directly on paper.

A dedicated instructor and leader in the watercolor community, Linda serves as President and Signature Member of the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society, and she’s also affiliated with the Florida Watercolor Society and Transparent Watercolor Society of America.

Her well-received workshops, such as "Positive Flow, Negative Control," guide students through creating expressive washes and refining compositions into vibrant florals and birds using wet-into-wet and negative painting methods. Known for her supportive and engaging teaching approach, Linda prefers open-ended painting sessions that accommodate both simple abstracts and detailed realism, offering insightful demos, hands-on exercises, and personalized feedback.
