Laurie's Bio:
Laurie Goldstein-Warren, AWS, WHS, TWSA, WW, is a West Virginia–based watercolor and liquid acrylic artist originally from New York. A former dancer and hair stylist, she discovered her passion for painting after moving in 1998 and studied under national figures in watercolor. Laurie is a master of dynamic techniques—such as pouring, negative painting, and creating texture with a limited palette—and her fluid, abstract compositions draw inspiration from real-world references like cityscapes and florals.
An experienced teacher and juried exhibitor, Laurie brings her energetic and playful spirit to workshops across the country. She guides students through transforming photographs into striking abstract pieces—distilling subjects into bold shapes, vibrant textures, and balanced color harmonies. A signature member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America (TWSA) and Northwest Watercolor Society—Grumbacher Master’s Fellowship (NWWS‑GMF), her teaching is praised for encouraging experimentation, individual voice, and discovery within process-driven classes
