Dan's Bio:
Dan Wiemer is a Minnesota-based landscape artist and former graphic designer (B.A., Iowa State University) whose work radiates energy, rhythm, and design. He paints both en plein air and in his studio, seamlessly blending transparent watercolor and opaque acrylic to create dynamic compositions inspired by the rugged North American landscape. Heavily influenced by Canadian landscape painters and printmakers, Dan distills natural scenes into bold, stylized motifs that guide the viewer’s eye, transforming everyday vistas into compelling visual stories.
A respected educator and leader in the art community, Dan is a past president of the Minnesota Watercolor Society and has taught extensively across the United States and abroad, including in China. He’s known for his printmaker-inspired workshop style—teaching artists to leverage negative space, strong design fundamentals, and contrasts to bring their work to life. Through both live demo sessions and hands-on guidance, Dan empowers students to move beyond replication and toward confident, design-focused expression.
