Workshop Description:
Have you always dreamed of creating lifelike portraits but felt intimidated by where to start? This two-day colored pencil workshop is designed to take the fear out of faces and replace it with skills, confidence, and joy! On Day One, we'll break down the fundamentals in a relaxed, easy-to-follow style. Learn how to see and draw the basic shapes and planes of the head, understand light and shadow, and explore Mark’s signature “Four Color Process” to bring features to life. You’ll discover how to draw expressive eyes, natural hair, and realistic skin tones—all with colored pencil! |
Then, on Day Two, you’ll put your new knowledge into action. Bring a favorite 5x7 or 8x10 photo of someone special, and Mark will guide you step-by-step to create a beautiful portrait full of personality and charm. From capturing a likeness to layering dramatic values and colors, you’ll learn professional techniques in a fun, supportive environment.
Not ready with your own image? No problem—you can use one of our provided photos. Either way, you’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of portraiture and a finished piece to be proud of.
Whether you're just starting or looking to refine your skills, this workshop is for you. Join us and discover the joy of turning faces you love into art you’ll treasure!
